Isidore's Papers

Isidore’s citizenship certificate hangs in Skip’s office. “He was really proud of that,” Skip says of the certificate. “I never met him, but according to my grandfather, he always thought it was amazing that he came here, where how well he did was determined only by how hard he wanted to work. Whereas, where he was, you started in one place and you stayed in one place regardless. There was no question in his mind that he was going to succeed because he was willing to do whatever it took.”

As you can see below, immigration officials made sure that Isidore did not have loyalties to any foreign "prince, potentate" or other figurehead, especially the czar of Russia.
